Call of Duty Black OpsEdit
|Cost (Black Ops)||2000|
|Used by||All teams|
The ACOG returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops as the ACOG Sight. There are several variants, depending on the origin of the weapon. It has less zoom than in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2.
The ACOG Sight is found various times throughout the campaign. In the first level, «Operation 40», it is attached to the player’s M16 with Grenade Launcher. In «Executive Order», it is on the AK47 picked-up after eliminating the guard with the Karambit Knife. The ACOG doesn’t make a designated appearance again until «Crash Site», where it is attached to the player’s Commando. The last set appearance is in «WMD», where it is on the default AUG with Suppressor. The AUG uses the Swarovski Scope from Modern Warfare 2.
The ACOG is quite plentiful in the campaign, frequently being found on RPKs and AK-47s, allowing the player to engage in longer range combat more often. There are few levels where this is not quite as helpful, however, due to the lower zoom, it can more manageable in these levels.
The ACOG Sight is available in multiplayer. The ACOG Sight is available for all primary weapons, costing 2000 COD Points. The ACOG Sight is also available on the Python, making this the first time the ACOG Sight has been available on a handgun.
The default ACOG Sight used on most weapons can differ between a simple crosshair or a crosshair with a dot, depending on the weapon it is attached to. The AK47, RPK, AK-74u and the Galil use a completely different scope design, the PK-AV; the AUG uses its unique Swarovski Scope; the L96A1 and Enfield use the SUSAT scope, and the Python uses the Colt scope, similar to all of the other weapons in the game. The reticle cannot be changed unlike the Red Dot Sight or Reflex. When an ACOG Sight is equipped on the M16, it actually reduces recoil, despite the ACOG normally increasing it.
In general, the scope is smaller and more cluttered than the variants in previous games. With the exception of sniper rifles, the ACOG Sight lacks idle sway but still increases recoil and the time it takes to aim down the sight is also slightly longer.
On the Python, it can be helpful when playing hardcore game modes, due to the Python having a high damage. With ACOG, it will allow the player to engage at a distance. Plus, when the ACOG Sight is equipped, the two-hit kill range increases from 350 units to 600 units.
The ACOG only appears on the AUG as the Swarovski Scope variant. It is by default attached to the AUG whenever it is acquired through the Mystery Box. In addition, when it is Pack-a-Punched, the lens to the scope will gain a yellow tint.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3Edit
|Unlocked||· Weapon Proficiency Level 2 (Sniper Rifles only) · Weapon Proficiency Level 11 (Assault Rifles and LMGs only) · Weapon Proficiency Level 16 (SMGs only) · Level 30 (Survival Mode)|
|Used by||All teams|
The ACOG returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and is available on all primary weapons, except for the Riot Shield and Shotguns. It is more similar to the one from Modern Warfare 2, rather than the one in Black Ops, in the sense that it is electronic. However, unlike Modern Warfare 2, there is no backup reticle, rendering it less than useful during an EMP.
The ACOG Scope can be found on various weapons throughout the campaign. However, in a few levels, the ACOG appears in the player’s starting loadout. In the levels «Goalpost», «Return To Sender», «Down The Rabbit Hole», and «Dust to Dust», it is attached to the player’s M4A1. It later appears in «Bag and Drag» on their SCAR-L.
Reticle customization returns for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, similar to that of the Reflex Sight and Red Dot Sight in Call of Duty: Black Ops, but does not include different color options. The alternative reticles are the same as those available for the Red Dot Sight and Holographic Sight.
Similar to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the ACOG provides a 2.4x zoom when aiming through it at the cost of a slower aim time and increased visual recoil but no increase in idle sway. Unlike in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the scope is mostly electronic; there are no crosshairs. Therefore, using the ACOG when affected by an EMP is more hindering compared to its previous counterpart, since the reticle disappears completely.
The ACOG Scope is available at Weapon Proficiency level 2 for sniper rifles, Weapon Proficiency level 11 for assault rifles and light machine guns, and Weapon Proficiency level 16 for submachine guns.
The ACOG scope is best suited for assault rifles, light machine guns, and sniper rifles, as submachine guns have a high damage drop off, making them less useful at long ranges. The ACOG is very useful when combined with Quickdraw, as the player will aim much quicker with the perk chosen.
For submachine guns, if the player is to pick between the HAMR Scope and ACOG, the ACOG would be the better choice for the player at longer ranges, as the spread of the ACOG is much less than the HAMR Scope. On assault rifles, when choosing between the Hybrid Sight and ACOG, the better choice varies based on whether the player is going to do long range only, or if they are going to engage in close quarters also. If doing a mixed style, the Hybrid Sight is slightly better due to the close range holographic. Otherwise, the ACOG is better at long ranges due to less spread.
The ACOG Scope can be found on weapons in Mission Mode, and can be bought in Survival Mode.
The ACOG Scope is purchasable for all submachine guns, assault rifles, light machine guns, and sniper rifles in Survival Mode at Level 30 and costs $1250. It is a good attachment if the player wants to eliminate Juggernauts and other armored enemies from a distance, although due to it increasing recoil, the player is likely to go through their ammo quicker, and earn a few less kills as a result.
The ACOG’s appearance is random throughout the first levels of Mission Mode. However, in the mission «Resistance Movement», many of the AK-47s the player can pick-up will have an ACOG attached. The next appearance is in «Little Bros», and like in the level «Bag and Drag», it is on the SCAR-L. In «Server Crash», a G36C with ACOG can be found in the underground armory. In «Fire Mission» and «Iron Clad», it is attached to the player’s M4A1 in their starting loadout. In the initial area of «Arctic Recon», it is found on a SCAR-L. It last appears on the starting M4A1 with Grenade Launcher in «Special Delivery».

- «The ACOG Scope provides mid-range magnification for precision fire over long distances«
- — Call of Duty ELITE
The ACOG Scope provides a 2.4x magnification level in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, with the exception of the G3 in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered which has a 1.75x magnification level. In Call of Duty: Black Ops, the ACOG Scope provides a 1.75x magnification level on all weapons with this attachment available. Because of the higher magnification level, it is a useful attachment for enhancing the long range capabilities of said weapon. It is considered a long range alternative to the Red Dot Sight, the Holographic Sight, and the Reflex Sight. However, although the ACOG Scope offers a higher zoom and range bonuses, it slows down the time to aim down the sights on most weapons, with the only exception being in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which speeds up the time to aim down the sights on Sniper Rifles and Light Machine Guns. The ACOG Scope also adds idle sway and visual recoil on all guns.
Call of Duty Advanced WarfareEdit
- «Enhanced zoom.«
- — In-game description
The ACOG Scope returns in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. and zooms in 4x. It should be noted that the ACOG Scope will add idle sway on an Assault Rifle, even though the weapons in the class (bar the MK14 and AE4) don’t have any idle sway. The ACOG Scope also blurs peripheral vision, and is unable to be steadied on a Sniper Rifle.
The ACOG Scope has mixed uses. On a Sniper Rifle, it serves as a medium between the regular scope and the Iron Sights, and is a good close quarters alternative for players that don’t want to sacrifice long range capabilities. However, on any other weapon, it is outclassed by the Hybrid Sight, as it’s easier to obtain, doesn’t add sway onto Assault Rifles, doesn’t block out peripheral vision, has a more open frame, and has a low zoom option.

- — In-game description
The ACOG Scope appears in Call of Duty: Ghosts.
The ACOG Scope appears numerous times throughout the campaign. In «Ghost Stories», the player’s MTAR-X2 has an ACOG Scope. In the next two levels, «Brave New World» and «No Man’s Land», the player starts with a Honey Badger with ACOG. In «Homecoming», the player’s SA-805 is equipped with the ACOG. In «Federation Day», the player has an IA-2 with ACOG. «Birds of Prey» starts with an SC-2010 with ACOG. In «Sin City», the player’s Remington R5 has the ACOG Scope attached. In «All or Nothing», the MR-28 in the player’s starting loadout has an ACOG attached. In «Loki», ARX-160s have the ACOG throughout the level, including the one the player starts with. In «The Ghost Killer», the player’s FAD has an ACOG attached.
The ACOG is helpful on many levels due to longer range combat in the game.
The ACOG Scope also appears in multiplayer. Aiming, the scope consists of a reticle only, without crosshairs. The reticle can be changed through customization.
In Gun Game, the second to last weapon, the .44 Magnum, has this and Akimbo attached. The player must equip the ACOG Scope and Akimbo on the .44 Magnum to complete the «Clueless» challenge.
In Extinction, the ACOG Scope can be found in Search Piles and be attached to the .44 Magnum through an armory upgrade, «Magnum ACOG Attachment». The player must have the Invasion DLC, and the upgrade costs two teeth.

- «Enhanced zoom ACOG scope. Does not benefit from the perk Iron Lungs.«
- — Modern Warfare Remastered attachment description.
The ACOG Scope only makes an appearance in multiplayer and is available for all submachine guns, light machine guns, and assault rifles (with the exception of the MP44) by completing the Marksman III Challenge. It is also unlocked for sniper rifles after completing the Marksman I Challenge.
The default reticle of the ACOG Scope is a glowing red chevron, the tip of which indicates where the player should aim. In Modern Warfare Remastered, the player is able to change the reticle of the ACOG Scope with reticles obtained from Supply Drops.
Attaching the ACOG Scope increases the amount and speed of idle sway on the gun (except on sniper rifles, where the sway speed is reduced). The scope also decreases peripheral vision, as the scope takes up more of the screen than if using regular Iron Sights or a Red Dot Sight. Also, on sniper rifles, the player cannot hold their breath to steady the aim, unlike with the default scope, making the perk Iron Lungs useless on the ACOG Scope.
When equipped on the M40A3, the base damage is raised from 70 to 75. A hit from an M40A3 with the ACOG Scope and Stopping Power will always result in a one-shot kill, unless the target is using Juggernaut, Last Stand, or if the player is shooting through cover. When the Dragunov is given an ACOG Scope, the quick drop time is increased, meaning the player will throw grenades and switch to handguns much slower. When equipped on the G3, the zoom level of the scope is actually decreased, making the scope slightly less able to target enemies at a distance, but makes it easier to target enemies nearby compared to the ACOG Scope on other weapons, in expense for increased view obstruction.
Old School Mode Edit
The ACOG Scope appears in Old School Mode as an attachment on weapons found in sprites.

- «Enhanced zoom ACOG scope.«
- — Attachment description.
The ACOG Scope’s appearance is very different from its Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare counterpart. The ACOG Scope’s reticle is now more similar to the default sniper scope, albeit thicker. The ACOG Scope is also featured with a yellow-orange dot in the center, which is where the player should aim. In addition, there are two unique ACOG Scopes, the Swarovski Scope and the SUSAT Scope, which are found on the AUG HBAR and L86 LSW respectively. The Swarovski Scope has a single dot in the middle, and the SUSAT Scope has a post in it. Unlike in the first Modern Warfare, there are ACOG Scopes found attached to weapons in the campaign.
In «Takedown», it is by default on the player’s ACR Grenadier. In «The Hornet’s Nest», it is attached to the player’s UMP45, and the last appearance is in «Just Like Old Times», where it is on the player’s silenced Vector. While not found in the player’s starting loadout, an M240 can be found inside the diner in «Wolverines!» with this attachment. All other appearances are as random drops from killed enemies.
It is a very good attachment for the player, as it gives them long range capabilities, which can be useful on «Takedown»,»Wolverines!», and «The Hornet’s Nest», where there is little cover in some areas and the player may be forced to attack from a distance.
The ACOG Scope is available for all assault rifles, submachine guns, and light machine guns once the Marksman IV Challenge is completed. For sniper rifles, the ACOG Scope is unlocked when the Marksman II Challenge is completed. Achieving 20 kills while aiming down the ACOG Scope unlocks the Thermal Scope for that weapon.
Unlike in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the ACOG Scope does not add idle sway, although it will keep the standard sway of sniper rifles, and maintains the characteristic of not being able to be steadied on sniper rifles. When using the ACOG Scope, visual recoil is increased greatly, but actual recoil is only increased slightly. This lowers the effective range of a weapon when firing in full automatic, making controlled bursts more helpful.
The effectiveness of the ACOG Scope is barely hindered when an enemy sets off an EMP, because although the glowing dot is removed, the crosshairs can still be seen. The Swarovski and SUSAT scopes are not affected either.
The ACOG Scope can be found throughout Special Ops missions. In «Suspension» and «Terminal», an ACR can be found in the initial area with an ACOG attached. In «Homeland Security», an M240 in Joe’s Diner has an ACOG Scope attached. Last, in «Armor Piercing», an AUG HBAR has the Swarovski variant attached to it in the starting area.
Like the campaign, the ACOG is a very helpful attachment for missions where enemies take cover at a distance, or the player cannot advance due to them being in an open area. However, in some missions, it is less helpful due to close quarters.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3Edit
In third person, the ACOG Scope has a protective cover over the front, which would make it unusable. This, however, does not affect its usability in first person.
Call of Duty: Black Ops IIEdit
- In the campaign, if one applies any camouflage to a weapon with the ACOG Scope attached, the scope will always be white. However in multiplayer, if one applies any camouflage to a weapon with the ACOG Scope, it will also become camouflaged.
- As seen in some of the trailers, the ACOG was originally going to have the thin reticle along the vertical center, similar to in Modern Warfare 2.

- «Enhanced zoom sight.«
- — Description.
The ACOG Sight returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
The ACOG Sight is available at the start of the campaign, and it can be selected for most weapons. For the 1980s missions, it uses the same models as in Call of Duty: Black Ops, while in the 2025 missions, it uses a modern appearance.
It is recommended for the starting loadout of «Pyrrhic Victory» on the FAL.
The ACOG Sight is unlocked for a weapon once a certain Weapon Level is reached. Unlike previous games, the ACOG Sight no longer affects the time it takes to aim down the sights, making it more useful than in previous games. A new feature to the ACOG Sight for sniper rifles is the ability to hold one’s breath and steady the gun.
When used on assault rifles and light machine guns, the centerspeed of the weapon is increased by 2%, reducing recoil. This is the same effect that the Foregrip has, so using the foregrip alongside this attachment will yield a 4.04% increase in weapon center speed (this is multiplicative, not additive). Sniper rifles, however, get a 10% reduction in center speed, increasing the recoil of the weapon ever so slightly. This is less noticeable on bolt-action sniper rifles, however, because the reticle returns to its initial position before another shot can be fired. However, on small maps, it can be quite useful.
Much like Modern Warfare 3, reticle customization is available to the ACOG. However, unlike Modern Warfare 3, reticles (with the exception of personalization pack reticles) are unlocked upon completing challenges rather than achieving a certain weapon level. Furthermore, the player will unlock the reticle for all weapons once the challenge is completed. Personalization packs also feature their own unique reticle. A list of all reticles on the ACOG Sight can be seen .
In the game mode Gun Game, the SMR has the ACOG equipped. In addition, unlike in Black Ops, the Crossbow is capable of equipping the ACOG Sight.
The ACOG Sight appears in Zombies mode, where it can be attached to some Upgraded weapons. These weapons are the SCAR-H, HAMR, LSAT, Ballista, and Mauser C96. The Mauser C96 acquires a unique ACOG when it is upgraded, similar to how the Python in Black Ops had a unique ACOG.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3
